We have been very impressed by the flexibility offered by
XSitePro which seems to cater for a wide range of user.
XSitePro for Beginners
In it's simplest form, XSitePro provides a WYSIWYG
(What You See Is What You Get) editor that allows rapid design and development of webpages for
users who have no interest in learning to program.
In conjunction with the huge number of templates provided that can be readily adapted to suit your
own circumstances, this probably provides one of the easiest methods to get an effective website up
and running.
Template driven website design is not new and many hosting companies, for example, offer basic
templates in the web design packages they sometimes offer. More often than not though, they come
across as just that and the results can look basic and amateurish.
The range of templates provided within XSitePro however is enormous. They are also very easy to
modify to something that looks less like a template and more like a professionally designed
website!
A range of special effects can also be easily included using the Widget Wizard
to enhance your design.
The manuals are comprehensive and easy to use on screen. Often on-line help
documents can be difficult to use - but this is another area that XSite Pro has got very well
designed. We printed them off to start with, but find they're so easy to use on-line that
the hard copy format is rarely used now.
Another great benefit is the XSitePro user forum. This provides a forum to search for remedies
and techniques to issues you may encounter along the way. Our experience of the responses to
submitting our own queries from time to time has been impressive. There appear to be a significant
number of people willing to help with advice and comments on how to best resolve often quite
esoteric issues.
XSitePro for Advanced
Users
For those wanting to create their own website design from
scratch, the product really starts to motor! You can forget the templates, import your own graphics
(using Photoshop or just your own photo images, or graphics created in Word etc etc) and start
designing something totally unique. All aspects of the webpage layout can be easily and
comprehensively manipulated.
We found the learning curve to get familiar with the product to be pretty quick and
straightforward. Again, when we got stuck on a particular point, either the Intellimon
support team helped resolve it, or it wasn't long before a response from the forum provided
the neccessary answer.
With access to the HTML source code, allowing you to edit and modify as required, the ability to
include scripts, Google site maps etc, and with control over page settings, XML Syndication,
etc etc there is very little that an intermediate to advanced user can't do with XSitePro given a
little time and patience.
Tools are provided to assist with including Google Adsense areas, Amazon Ads, Affiliate links and
so on for those users wishing to monetize their site in some form.
The inclusion of XSite Header to help in the design of your
own unique header is also welcome, although many advanced users may already be in a position
to do this with other tools.
XSitePro for Search Engine Friendly
Websites
One of the great strengths of XSitePro is in its inherent design structure for creating
websites that are search engine friendly.
It allows full control over page titles, file names, keywords and other meta data and encourages
you to follow the rules for ensuring that your site is well designed.
Whilst not perhaps as totally flexible as a full HTML editor package such as Dreamweaver, XSitePro
involves neither the same degree of learning time, programming time, or cost.
For most individuals, small business owners etc, XSitePro provides an excellent option for
developing your own Do-it-Yourself websites. All you need is to spend a
little time and effort getting familar with
XSitePro, and then time to design and develop your own site. Of the many options available,
XSitePro is probably one of the best.
